Cough

Cough

There are numerous causes of cough that are not related to asthma including common colds or bronchitis. For instance, a runny nose or sinusitis can result in excessive mucous production and post-nasal drip and can lead to cough. Interestingly, cough may be a symptom of silent causes such as non-symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease known as ‘GERD’ or ‘reflux’. However, it is important to recognize that cough may be a sign of a more serious disease that needs to be addressed by your physician, especially when it has lasted longer than what you would expect with a common cold.
